To differentiate the Ocean and sea clearly we need to find the difference of depth, area, and marine life of both.
The ocean is the continuous frame of the salty water that is greater than the sea. Ocean shelter the 70 per cent of the surface of the earth while the sea is smaller than the ocean and it is the large body of saline water. Here we summarize these 2 water bodies in terms of depth, area, and marine life.
On the surface of the earth, the largest water body is the Ocean. There is 5 ocean in the world among which the Pacific Ocean is the largest in-depth 10,924m and the Arctic Ocean is the smallest in depth which is 5625m.
5 Ocean of the world joins together to make the large body of saline water with average depth 3688m and commonly it is known as the world ocean. In the world, there are different seas among which the Mediterranean Sea, Baltic Sea, North Sea, Red Sea, and the Yellow Sea are the most common seas. Major seas in the world are the Caribbean Sea, the South China Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. The deepest sea in the world is the Caribbean Sea which has an average depth of 6,946 meters. As compare to seas, Oceans are much deeper.
Most prominent body of the water on the earth is oceans which cover the 361,900,000 square Kilometer of the earth planet. The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean by area which covers 60,060,700 square kilometres of the earth. The Arctic Ocean is the smallest ocean that covers a small area of 5,427,000 square kilometres.
The Mediterranean Sea is the largest sea by area which covers the 1,144,800 square kilometres. The area of the largest sea is the smaller then area of the smallest ocean which indicates that the area cover by the Ocean is much greater as compared to the area cover by the sea.
Marine Life made by the plants and animals that live in the salty water (Oceans and Seas). If the depth from water to land is greater than the aquatic life is less. That’s why aquatic life is abundant in the sea as compared to the ocean due to less depth of the sea.
